Restless Nights
Who: Choromatsu and others
What: However briefly, he's now the oldest, and has some things to think about. Also, weather.
Where: Level 5 Block 2 first, then around the ship
When: The night after the announcement
Warning(s): Matsus.
PRIVATE; LEVEL 5 BLOCK 2
The first time he had slept in a bed by himself, he'd been on the cusp of finally becoming the adult he'd wanted to be. And then he'd thrown it out.
This time is different. He'd CHOSEN to move out that time; this time, the isolation is imposed. He lies awake in bed, various thoughts and anxieties running through his head in a raucous cacophony keeping him awake. Thoughts like whether they would see home again, whether he would be able to keep up being a good worker or if he'd just slip behind like before, whether he'd be able to be a good big brother to Jyushimatsu during this situation.
About being a big brother at all.
He'd often fantasized about being the oldest. Considering how useless the eldest two could be -- Osomatsu with his stunted maturity, Karamatsu with his egocentric detachment from reality -- the idea of being the one who called the shots had a lot of appeal. He could be the one to help guide them on the road to independence! They could actually move forward and stop being shitty NEETs! Even as a child, he'd fantasized about it, although he didn't like to talk about what happened the one time he DID have authority these days, seeing as it was very embarrassing. As they'd gotten older and it became increasingly obvious that Osomatsu had no intention of growing up mentally, the urge had grown greater. And now, it seems, he IS the eldest here.
Yet for some reason, now that the fantasy is real, it's... terrifying. He has to look over Jyushimatsu now, has to help guide him. He has no support, no one to watch his back. He has to make these decisions now. Him, the scumbag who couldn't even hold down a job for a full year before quitting it. Could he really do this sort of thing? What if he just makes things worse? If he ever sees the others again and it turns out something happened to Jyushimatsu under his watch, would they ever forgive him? Is he... really independent enough?
The thoughts, compounded with the lack of room or bedmates, prevent him from sleeping. He could just get up and walk it off, but would that really be okay? Would anybody else even be up? Would --
...was that thunder?
PUBLIC; ALL

Puddles drip in Choromatsu's wake as he walks through the ship. Well, at least he'd put the Nyaa-chan stuff somewhere safe when the warning had come up, but...
Would any place on this ship even CARRY towels at this hour?

Puddles drip in Choromatsu's wake as he walks through the ship. Well, at least he'd put the Nyaa-chan stuff somewhere safe when the warning had come up, but...

doot doot
His first night in the room, he'd slept peacefully, thanks to the many changes he'd needed to adjust to. But the next few nights were suffering. Long, and sad. And Jyushimatsu wasn't very good with sad. Where was Ichimatsu-niisan, and the others? What had happened to them? Did they... die?
And then. Then came the blizzard. In his room, for crying out loud. That had been the last straw. Jyushimatsu had yelled and ripped the door off its hinges before exiting, thankfully not venting his frustrations on his poor roommate. He did steal Kamille's covers, though.
Wrapped in every blanket he could find, Jyushimatsu leaves block 4 in hopes of finding warmer temperatures. Choromatsu may notice a huge lump of... something... wandering the halls, groaning like a ghost.
Re: doot doot
"H-h-h-hello?" he stammers nervously, shivering in his damp state.

Must... find... warmth...! Suddenly, it... attacks? Or, rather, two limbs jut out into the darkness and grasp at the man.

Jyushimatsu's head pops out of the blankets. "Niisan, it's cold!"
1/2
...
2/2
IT'S A COLD JYUSHIMATSU!
"H-hang on, I'm sure we can find a warmer place around here somewhere!" he yelps. Of course, his room isn't good for that right now... darn it, where would be good?
no subject
"There is a blizzard in my room! I'm staying in yours!"

After a long pause, he stands up straight again, giving Choromatsu another wide-eyed stare. "Let's find another room."

When they open the door, a blast of warm air hits them, and Jyushimatsu instantly hops into the room, leaving the blankets he'd gathered together on the floor outside.
"YEAH! It's nice in here! And empty!" This room is his now. He has claimed it. For as long as it stays warm. "Hustle, hustle, muscle, muscle!"

"Why's the weather acting weird inside the ship, niisan?" he asks with his usual grin. That's a lot better than the scary face he was making earlier.

And then the darkness is gone as quickly as it came.
no subject
Maybe if he emphasizes it's a matter of life or death, he'll get heard faster.

If you want someone to talk to, there's a brother right here. Then again, was this brother really the best option?

"Choromatsu?" On the search for his missing bed sheets, Kamille came upon the older matsu brother. "What happened to you?! You're soaked to the bone!"

Before either of them can really say anything, her wings flare out to either side, and she shakes off those and her tail with a quick whiplash that he might want to not walk too close to.
no subject
Be a smoking hot, dripping wet babe within their vicinity. Also, maybe smack them in the face with a flailing wing. Both are effective.
no subject
But, right, she just smacked someone in the face, and she turns to him. "Ah, I am quite sorry about that! I was not looking where I was shaking."
no subject
Honestly, the physical contact was probably welcome.Although now that he HAS noticed, he does realized it kinda stings a bit. "E-eh? O-o-oh, it's no problem at all! Ha ha, we're all in very strange circumstances right now right? We should be more accepting of everybody and get along!"THAT wasn't awkward. Smooth operator, our Choromatsu.
no subject
Seems incredibly average. Bland, almost. Her wings fold and shrink away, not even visible from in front of her now. "Still, I should be just a bit more careful - but for a ship that should have complete control of its environment, this is concerning."
no subject
Still, he nods vigorously. "I... I know what you mean! Raining in the middle of your bedroom! What good is that? It just leaves you dripping wet! I thought bedrooms were supposed to be safe from stuff like that!"
Although honestly some cold rain sounds good right now.no subject
Like if she runs into a blizzard wearing what she showed up here in. "Yet they expect to make a long voyage of this with such a severe lack of control?"

Choromatsu, that was Totoko, you were bribed into doing it for no pay by an offer of a pat on the back, and she wasn't even successful. That doesn't count. "Anyway, I could learn! Really fast! Just watch me!" Praise hiiiim.
no subject
Or he was useless, but she was still giving him... half the benefit of the doubt maybe?
"Perhaps we should get a few of the others involved."
no subject
Uuuuuuugh.
Still, he nods. "Yeah, I mean we can't be the only ones suffering, right?"
no subject
"Still, that is the most relevant point - I'd wager that this is horribly inconvenient for almost everyone on board this ship."
no subject
"Uh huh! There's me, and Jyushimatsu, and --"
He stops, and suddenly looks crestfallen. "And... and I guess that's it, right now..." He crosses his arms. "I'm... the oldest here."
The oldest. Why can't he be happy about this?
no subject

He suddenly looks flustered. "A-ah! Sorry, I just... don't worry about me! I'll be fine! I was always the responsible one anyway! I just... need some time to adjust."
no subject
Sala offers him a smile. "We are all away from everything we've ever known. It is difficult by nature... but we really must do something about this weather even if it is a temporary solution."
no subject
Which would probably spontaneously combust in his hand anyway. What's with that, honestly.
He nods. "But the weather is a huge problem! I'll go to the captain first thing tomorrow!"
So he SAYS, but...
no subject
"I'll be waiting for you to report back! Perhaps you could even make an announcement for everyone."
