[open] The S.S. Panic Blues

What: Jyushimatsu tries out his new job, and explores the new planet!

A - Residential Area - Day

[with encouragement from Choromatsu, Jyushimatsu has decided to try working on the ship. without an allowance from their parents, it's the only way to earn money. and while everyone seems to be taken care of when they are on the ship, in regards to food and shelter, there are always other things humans want. things like extra clothes, or alcohol, or gambling cash. have you guys seen the night entertainment area? Jyushimatsu wants to spend hours there!

so, he looked for a job that seemed... reasonable. he doesn't want to work too hard, but he's all for being physical. he knows he won't be good at jobs where you have to work with people, like retail or hospitality. so it seems like the only viable option is something behind the scenes. and, boy, did he find an easy job. leaving garbage at peoples' doors? he can totally do that!

maybe you'll see him running through the residential area dumping trash in front of apartment doors. is that... why is he doing that? he's even wearing a uniform for it. or maybe you're his partner, and you notice his abundance of energy. he moves pretty fast]

Muscle, muscle! Hustle, hustle!

B - Residential Area - Night

[the days may be fun, and filled with things to do, but it's when the night comes that loneliness begins to creep in. Jyushimatsu misses his parents, and his brothers. he's so thankful that Choromatsu is here with him, but things... just aren't the same. they aren't even rooming together!

when he can't sleep, Jyushimatsu gets up to wander the residential area. he doesn't have money, so he can't go play in one of the other areas, so he's left alone with his thoughts. bad thoughts. bad thoughts about his brothers. what happened to them? why aren't they on the ship? what about their planet? he's having a difficult time coping, and he's usually so cheerful and happy. this depression doesn't suit him at all, but he can't really help it.

he finds a bench to sit on and plops down into a boneless lump. ugh, he just wishes he could sleep. actually, he wishes his brothers were here. especially Ichimatsu. perhaps if Ichimatsu-niisan were on board, he'd at least be able to sleep better]

C - New Planet - Day

[the captain said to be wary of evil scientists! that sounds... sufficiently creepy. but Jyushimatsu has explored a lot of the ship by now, and he's feeling antsy, so it's time to go outside! he eagerly awaits for the door to open, bouncing in place. and then he's met with... the wasteland. and suddenly the ship seems like a lot more fun.

but if other people are going exploring, he might as well, too! he's good at finding things to do, and has a positive attitude. so he'll make the most of it. the first thing Jyushimatsu does when he gets outside is run around the ship. yaaaay! running! it's been too long since he's had a wide open space to run in. and after running, it's time to practice his swings. yes, he stands in the same spot for hours just swinging his bat]

[ Maybe Kagura DOES notice Jyushimatsu's abundant energy as she stops her casual wandering and watches him fling trash at unsuspecting doors. Maybe not.

She does, however, sidestep over to one of the piles to find a soggy paper plate covered in old liquid cheese and tomatoes. She picks it up and launches it at him, because he's obviously playing the time honored game of trash-tag. And he's really good. This might actually be a challenge! ]

YOU ARE IT!

Huh? [Jyushimatsu turns just in time to have the paper plate smack him in the face. ew. but as it slides off of him, he doesn't look grossed out at all. in fact, he looks happy!

maybe a little too happy]

[he's it, huh? silly child, you've opened a can of worms. you're dealing with a master, here, and he's going to show you just how to play trash-tag.

after a few seconds of standing there, Jyushimatsu springs into action, building a fort from nearby trash. he moves with speed that is only possible in some gag anime, quick as the Flash. and only once he has erected his monstrous fort does he start hurling garbage at kagura.

bombs away!]

[ YES! THIS IS THE MATCH SHE'S BEEN WAITING FOR. The true test of the king or queen of the residential district. She turns into a motion blur that would make Goku proud as she starts to dodge the trash!

Sure, there's a hit or two... Something that might have been spaghetti pegs her in the leg. A can of creamed something catches her shoulder, but it's not enough to stop her. ]

Heh. You're good... But not good enough.

[ She begins to run toward him, dipping low at each rancid pile in front of the doors to grab a disgusting item and hurl it at him. ]

[there can be only one ruler! and Jyushimatsu was here first. he's not about to give up his cushy position (even though he doesn't get anything). the item she threw comes up and blows off one of the towers of his fort, causing the whole building to tremble]

NOOO! [dramatic reach for the fallen tower. then he's turning to the girl again, huffing and gnashing his teeth] HRGH! Chew on this!

[now Jyushimatsu tosses chopsticks, firing one right after the other. they imbed in the ground like daggers]

[ NO-- SHE CAN'T LET THIS GUY WIN. She grits her teeth, zig-zagging through the rain of chopsticks. She's almost out of the danger when one bounces off the ground and SHE'S HIT.

She shrieks as the force of the hit makes her do a 180. She brings her hands to her face, trembling. ]

N-n-n-no!! Call a doctor, yes?!

[ When she turns to face him again, she has both hands covering one eye. The chopstick is poking out from between her fingers, and something red is running down her cheek ]

[oh crap. did he actually stab her? well, what did he think was going to happen, flinging used, sharpened chopsticks at a young girl? Jyushimatsu panics for a moment, but then a thought occurs to him.

back when he used to play this game at home (which is part of a flashback that doesn't even exist), Osomatsu always liked to pretend he was injured so that he could take the winner's trophy (again, this never happened). Jyushi slams his hands down on the garbage brick in front of him, pointing an accusatory finger at her]

OBJECTION! [...] Ah, no, wait. That's wrong. [???] You think you can trick me? That's gotta be ketchup!

[ SHE'S CRYING. THERE IS A BIG OL' TEAR ROLLING OUT OF HER GOOD EYE. ]

Y-you will not help me? You are a bad person, yes? Ah, is it that you would like to see me die here?

HELP! POLICE!!!

[this is what happens when you mess with a master!

ah, no wait. Jyushimatsu actually looks a little distressed when Kagura calls for the police. he doesn't want to go to jail, man. NOT AGAIN (???????????)]

H-hey! Keep it down! [what's going to happen to him? this is, like, his third day on the job, and he's not even working. he's playing with kids! he's going to be responsible because he's an adult! yikes! after a moment, Jyushimatsu jumps down from the fort, cautiously approaching her] Do you really need to see a doctor?

[ She sinks to her knees, trembling. She's losing a lot of blood(??), and looking pretty bad. ]

I... I need...

[ As soon as he's close enough, she drops the chopstick and looks up at him in one move. Her mouth is twisted in a disgusting grin. ]

I NEED TO WIN.

[ Her one eye is still closed because the old acrylic paint she slathered on there for blood kind of burns a lot. but she still laughs and leaps at him from the ground. She's attempting to shove an old banana peel in his mouth.

That is how you win trash-tag. At least, it was back in Edo. You get trash in the other person's mouth. ]

[HE KNEW IT! it was a trick all along! she played dirty!

as if there's any other way to play trash-tag.

Jyushimatsu is bent back as he tries to push Kagura away. no, he can't lose like this... not yet...!

with his hands gripping her wrists, Jyushi turns and lets out a sharp whistle at the fort. he didn't want to have to use this, his ultimate weapon, but Kagura leaves him no choice.

suddenly, something large and gray grows and looms behind the fort. it snarls, and then... it's falling forward at an alarming pace. rats, a tiny army of rats! they're headed straight for Kagura] RISE UP, MY MINIONS!

[ Wow, this guy is pretty strong! Maybe like Gin-chan strong. That doesn't mean she's going to back down. She'll be the Queen again! Nothing can stop her, not even a rat army!

Wait.

Is that a rat wave? Her eyes widen as they start crashing out of the fort. This could be the end for her!

Except for the fact that she also has a secret weapon. ]

SADAHARUUUUU! GO!

[ For a moment... There's nothing. Her eyes actually dart up and down the hall nervously. But thankfully, her giant white dog comes thundering up the hall seconds later. His face is covered in trash, as he's probably been following Jyushimatsu for days, snacking on the fruits of his labor.

Just as the rats are about to descend on Kagura, she wrestles one hand away from her opponent. When Sadaharu goes speeding past, she grabs his fur so she can hitch a ride. If Jyushimatsu doesn't let go of her other wrist, he's going too! ]

[whoa! Jyushimatsu is... enchanted by the giant dog. that's way too cool! he loves it! so he's a bit too stupefied to release Kagura's wrist. they are yanked away just as the wave of rats comes crashing down upon them. the garbage fort is destroyed, the hall is filled with rats.

and Jyushi and Kagura are going for a ride! on a massive dog! FUN! Jyushimatsu laughs happily]

[ Kagura pulls herself, and Jyushi, up onto the dog's back as he continues to trot away. That way, they can both look back reflectively at the nightmare they are leaving behind for someone else to walk into. ]

I guess it is a tie for now, yes?

[ Technically, there can be a king and a queen. At least for a little while. You know, until they get away from this scene so they don't get in trouble. ]

[it's someone else's mess now. and was that an explosion back there? ah, yes, and an accompanying mushroom cloud.

good times.

he turns to give her a nod and affirmative sound as they round the corner. then he's snaking off his uniform. don't worry! his normal clothes are on underneath! he just wants to... you know... get rid of the evidence. Jyushi accomplishes that by letting the clothes fall into a recycle bin, coincidentally]

[ Even though there's still plenty of trash covering probably all of them, Kagura's pretty sure they're in the clear. Now they can relax and go... Wherever the alien dog is taking them. ]

Hey, what is your name?

[ Because he looks sort of familiar. Besides that, it'd probably be good to know for when they play more games in the future. ]

I am Kagura, yes? The Queen of Kabukichou. [ She grins proudly as she states her self-appointed title. Not that it's anything anyone should really gloat about. ]

And this is Sadaharu! [ She pats their transport on his head. ]

[the dog's name is Sadaharu! once Jyushimatsu hears that, he gives the beast a nice scratch. good boy! Jyushi loves dogs]

I'm Jyushimatsu! [he politely inclines his head, and then] Are you really a queen?

[ And Sadaharu appreciates a passenger petting him instead of smacking him with a wooden sword or something. ]

Uh huh! You could not tell from the regal way I look?

[ Y'know covered in smelly trash with red paint smeared all over one side of her face. ]

No! [honest answer] But I won't make that mistake again, Kagura-sama!

[she's not really a queen, Jyushi. you don't have to... yes, he's bowing again, only this time, deeper, with his head to the ground]

[ WOW, this guy is great. This is probably the first time anyone has ever taken her title really seriously. She's totally loving it. ]

Yeah, do not forget it! And since I am royalty and all, I am decreeing that you must play with me again sometime, yes? Now you have to!

[and he is going to PROTECT THE TINY QUEEN FOREVER. because if she said she is a queen, who is he to not believe her? the people on board the S.S. Panic were from all over the place, right? so she very well could be exactly who she says she is!]

Yeah! [his head snaps up and he beams at her. what a benevolent queen!] We'll play again soon! [maybe when he's not working...]

[ She almost screams out a "YAY". But, she manages to keep her queenly composure. Then she slides off Sadaharu, because they're at block-2 anyway. ]

Ah, you are a good subject, yes? If you keep it up you can be part of the royal court in no time!

[oh my gooooosh the royal court! Jyushimatsu positively vibrates with excitement. Thank you, King-sized game-winning home run!]

Thank you, my Queen! I'll work hard! [he salutes. Man, if he becomes part of the royal court, maybe he won't have to be a garbage man anymore... Ooh, his brothers would be so jeal... Ah, only one brother is here. Jyushi slumps a bit, now that he's thought about home and his family what a mood killer]

[ Poor guy, that was a quick mood swing. He does look pretty pitiable though. She reaches out to pat his shoulder even! ]

Ah, hard work makes you sad too?

[ Just like Gin-chan! ]

Ah, no! It's not that! [he rubs the back of his neck, grinning again. working does make him a little sad, but only a little] I was just thinking about my brothers.
