[What if he just says this whole entire thing is Hijikata's fault somehow? Granted he was used to taking on missions on his own, not to mention he had gone through one very recently. This, however, was a less fun version of that, because it consisted of entirely too much paperwork. Boring! Paperwork is the absolute worst. At the very least, maybe he could actually take it easy here. The jobs didn't seem too difficult, and he was already used to dealing with aliens.
What better way to start taking it easy other than making himself at home and immediately raiding the fridge in his apartment?]
